Tenderness (Delicadeza)

Writer/Director: Eduardo Mattos
Narrative Feature - 90min
Drama
In Post-Production
Synopsis:
Taking the fraternal affection between Antonio and Miguel as a starting point, DELICADEZA (Tenderness) uses melodrama conventions to bring up contemporary social problems, especially the sexual exploitation of LGBTQIA+ adolescents. The film alternates between two settings. At first, we are introduced to the point of view of Miguel, a lower-class gay teenager, who lives in a troubled family environment in Salvador, a city that does not provide him with mechanisms of inclusion. When Miguel goes missing, we follow Antonio's journey through the city of São Paulo to try to find him. As Antonio navigates through this city that feels foreign to him, he meets several of its inhabitants, and is introduced to a more tolerant and inclusive understanding of the world.
